Week 1 Update
Week 1 of the WattsWatt Countdown to Cold
17 – 23 June 2026
A busy first week focused on raising awareness, helping households reduce their energy costs and growing support for the campaign.
Highlights
- Took Countdown to Cold to the streets of Sutton, Greater London, speaking directly with members of the public in a vox pop about preparing for winter.
- Continued supporting members of Mums Versus Mould to reduce their energy bills and stay warm without overpaying.
- Attended the Future Homes Standard Technical Conference (see video).
- Published an educational comparison showing that, in a typical home, using an electric heater can cost around four times more than using a gas central heating system to heat the same room, helping households make more informed heating choices.
- Announced that, since our December launch, WattsWatt has helped unlock more than 80,000 Heat Hours so far, putting more affordable warmth into homes across the UK.
- Welcomed Swift Maintenance Services as a campaign sponsor and helped Carl Reid save £451 on his annual energy bill through WattsWatt.
“Too many homes that we attend are damp as a result of retrofit and substandard disrepair work. This leaves the occupants paying more to heat their homes. We're right behind the important work that WattsWatt is doing to make this winter warmer for millions.”
