Frequently Asked Questions
About WattsWatt
WattsWatt is your National Energy Service. We’re an independent social enterprise
that helps households find the best energy tariff based on their actual usage.
Unlike comparison sites, we don’t get paid by suppliers to promote their tariffs. We
check every tariff from every supplier and only show you the ones that make your
energy spend go furthest.
How to use WattsWatt
You’ll need either a smart display linked to your smart meter or a recent energy
bill (if you don’t yet have a smart meter).
Via smart meter data: Once connected to your smart meter data,
WattsWatt analyses your energy data and sends you a notification when your
personalised tariff results are ready.
Via energy bill: The call handler will be able to read aloud the results or send the results in an email for you to choose from.

No. We only provide tariff recommendations - the choice to switch is always yours.
However, tariff results are only valid for 24 hours as suppliers start new tariffs
and end older tariffs each day.
When you click through to WattsWatt you will see the latest results matched to your
energy usage data.

Switching Process
No. We show you the best tariffs but do not switch suppliers on your behalf. You

be interrupted during the process. You are entitled to £30 compensation if the
switch takes longer. Request this from your new supplier.
Yes. You have a 14-day cooling-off period after agreeing a new tariff, during which
you can cancel without penalty (except for any energy already used).
Exit Fees
If you’re within the last 49 days of a fixed-term contract, your supplier cannot
charge exit fees. Otherwise, check your contract for details.
Exit fees are specified on your energy bill and on your tariff information.
